7 days post op...

Whew!  I made it thru surgery and the first 7 days.  The surgery went well and lasted almost an hour but Randy said my recovery time was almost 3 hours.  YIKES.  I think it was my blood pressure and the pain that made it difficult.  The first night was a rough one.  Then bright and early someone came into my room from physical therapy.    Oh I so know how my patients feel now when I come walking in right after surgery.     I couldn't be mean and tell her to leave- cause I found out she is my new boss.   What a small world.

I managed to walk about 250 feet and go up and down stairs then I got sick and went back to bed.   My doctor had also come in really early to say things looked good and I could go home after I walked.    That's what we worked on and just after lunch I did go home.

This week started out kinda rough.  I had to get my pain meds changed but now I am doing much better.  I even skipped some during the night and cut down to just one at a time today.

The girls have been great little helpers.  I can't bend, twist or lift anything over 5 lbs so they get to do lots even helping me put my socks on.   I think Randy and I are going to have to get them a little something for a reward.

My follow up doctor visit is on the 8th.   I will find out then when I can go back to work and start exercising more.  Right now I am just supposed to be walking.

So far, I have no pain in my leg so it appears to have worked.   I guess we will see over the next month or so how everything goes.

Where does the time go...

It has been over a month since I have even thought about blogging.  Oops.  We have been doing really well and things are looking up.

Randy and I started counseling and it is an eye opening experience.  It has helped us talk more and put things into perspective.  We see what is important and what things we need to just let slide for now.  I have realized I am holding on to a lot of guilt and that is making my grieving process unhealthy again.  I will always grieve for Madison but it can be done so that I can still have joy in my life too.   I have so much to be joyful about afterall.  I thank God for all my blessings.

School ended for the year.  We still are not 100% sure of what to do with Jessi for next year but she will be having some tutoring this summer.  Maybe that will catch her up enough to continue on to first grade.   Megan ended the year very well.  She is looking forward to the summer break.  She was accepted to the WINGS program for gifted students this summer.  She will be taking Crazy Kitchen Chemistry for her course.   hmmmm, sounds like trouble.  LOL!

My back surgery is approaching.  I am nervous but also looking forward to having the pain in my leg gone.  I am praying the recovery goes smoothly.

The weather has been crazy here.  It got hot then the rain began.  It is wonderful for the flowers but I think even they are wishing for some dry weather for a bit.   All the spring bushes bloomed so beautifully and now the butterfly garden is doing well.

oh summer my favorite time of the year.

Lots happening...

Where to begin...  Randy was gone from Tuesday to Sunday.  After being here all day on that Sunday doing some work outside he asked if he could stay.  We had decided on going to counseling and he told me he really wanted to be home. Not sure if that is good or bad because we have a lot to work thru and it will be so hard on the girls if he leaves again.  We want it to work!

Counseling went well and we have a place to begin in putting our marriage back together.

Jessica's vision screen went well.  The doctor said she didn't have any specific delays.  He just felt that she is young and not ready for the academic demands being placed on her.  We are continuing to follow thru with the kindergarten testing at the other school as well as 1st grade stuff at her current school.   I think it would be best if we work on things(the doctor gave us a summer program)and see where she is at the end of the summer.

Megan is doing well.  She is in Girls on the Run and liking that.  She is doing swimming lessons at the Y and really enjoys that every week.  Her independent reading program is going well and she is working on her second book.
